Bratt completely over Julia

Los Angeles Benjamin Bratt has married his “Pinero” co-star Talisa Soto.

The ceremony took place Saturday in San Francisco, where Bratt was raised and owns a home, publicist Ina Treciokas said Tuesday.

Bratt, 38, and Soto, 35, were wed at a family gathering.

They co-starred in the 2001 film about hard-living Puerto Rican poet-playwright Miguel Pinero, who died of cirrhosis at 41 in 1988.

It’s the first marriage for Bratt, who dated Julia Roberts for nearly four years until their breakup last year.

Jesse Jackson unhurt in crash

Waycross, Ga. The Rev. Jesse Jackson was involved in a three-vehicle accident after speaking at a church rally in this south Georgia town, but he wasn’t injured.

Jackson, 60, was riding Monday night in a sport utility vehicle driven by Janice Mathis, 48, of Bogart. Mathis and another passenger, Randolyn Jones of Athens, also were not injured.

The drivers of the other vehicles, Marvin Humphries, 29, and Walter Clements Jr., 27, both of Waycross, were taken to a hospital for treatment and later released. Police said Clements was charged with following too closely and having no proof of insurance.

Sad tale of beloved dog

New York A few months after battling uterine cancer and undergoing a hysterectomy, Fran Drescher endured another traumatic event: She had to put her 18-year-old dog, Chester, to sleep.

The Pomeranian had a recurring role on Drescher’s 1990s sitcom “The Nanny” and often appeared with her on magazine covers and talk shows.

In her upcoming book, “Cancer Schmancer,” excerpts of which appear in the May issue of Rosie magazine, the actress describes the dog’s failing health and the final moments of his life in December 2000.

“Chester and I lay on the bed. I just kissed him and stroked him. I whispered in his ear how much I loved him. … We had penne pasta together … ,” Drescher writes.

“It was a beautiful day and I held him outside on my deck. I wanted him to feel the sun on his face one more time. … When the doctor arrived, it seemed too soon.”

No Whoopi to block

Los Angeles There’s a job opening in the center of “Hollywood Squares.”

Whoopi Goldberg is leaving the syndicated show at the end of its fourth season. She has been in the middle of the celebrity-filled game since the “Hollywood Squares” revival launched in 1998.

Goldberg also is leaving as co-executive producer of the series from King World Productions, company spokesman Arthur Sando said.

A replacement for Goldberg will be announced later.
