Thelma Carmin

Upland, Ind. ? Services for Thelma Carmin, 91, Matthews, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Jones-Smith Funeral Home, Upland. Burial will be in Matthews Cemetery.

Mrs. Carmin died Friday, April 12, 2002, at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.

She was born in Matthews, the daughter of Clarence and Bertha Mae (Dorton) Reeve. She graduated in 1928 from Gaston High School.

Mrs. Carmin had owned and operated Carmin’s Grocery, Matthews. She also had worked at Pearson’s horse farm and Poor Richard’s Cabinet Factory, Matthews. She attended First Community Church, Matthews.

She married Palmer Carmin in 1929. He died on July 12, 1986.

Survivors include a son, Roy “D.D.” Carmin, Indianapolis; a daughter, Donna Wanner, Lawrence, Kan.; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A son, Kenneth John, and a grandson died earlier.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends.
