Spring has sprung in northeast Kansas. It’s that time of year when gardeners and garden stores get busy making the most of the post-equinox release from winter’s grip.

At Clinton Parkway Nursery, Clinton Parkway and Wakarusa Drive, the staff is readying for the spring rush. Early planters are stocking up on supplies and bedding plants are beginning to fill the greenhouse.

Legend has it the last frost won’t occur till the peonies are “a bushel-basket high.” Such concerns won’t deter eager, amateur horticulturists and truck farmers from pursuing green dreams. Hope springs eternal and finally, spring is more than just a hope.
