Pride, not panic

We lose the lesson of citizenship when we fail to teach our children how those who came before fought and died to secure our freedom. And if that generation won our freedom, then this generation is charged to make that freedom endure. That’s why America’s war on terrorism is named Operation Enduring Freedom and the effort to secure our skies is Noble Eagle.

The B-1B flight over Memorial Stadium could merely be a noisy celebration of Jayhawks honoring our Jayhawk team and a great Kansas University program. It could also represent Kansans, everyday folks in our National Guard and Reserve forces, serving Kansans by providing the most formidable force in the history of the world. It’s a shame the roar of a warhorse that rides into battle against the “bullies” of terrorism would be unwelcome. No, that is the sound of freedom.

Our military might is second to none  no one comes close! And we should proudly salute the men and women of Kansas who stand guard for all of us.
