Delaware Street Commons, a local cohousing project, will play host to a home design workshop in May.

Project architect Kirk Gastinger, Kansas City, Mo., will present “Individual Home  Singular Design” May 3-5 at the United Way Service Center, 2518 Ridge Court. The schedule:

 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. May 3

 9 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., May 4

 9 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., May 5

The workshop is designed to reach consensus on individual home types, floor plans, elevations, materials and environmental systems for the community, the first of its kind in Kansas. Workshop cost for full participants is $500, $400 of which will go toward the purchase price of their home. The price to observe the workshop is $200.

Within the next two years, members of Delaware Street Commons plan to construct about 30 coordinated dwellings and a community building at 1208 Delaware St. For more information, go to www.delaware-street.com.
