Brown-Wallace services

She was born June 1, 1946, in Lawrence, the daughter of Wilford and Fredericka (Porter) Brown Sr. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1964 and attended Kansas University.

Mrs. Brown-Wallace worked at Hercules Army Ammunition Plant before moving to Oxon Hill, Md. There, she completed police academy training and was a member of the Metropolitan Police Dept. from May 1972 to September 1994. She participated in the “Repeat Offender” project in 1982 and was a U.S. marshal from November 1992 to November 1993. She received numerous commendations for exemplary and outstanding service and was a member of the Association of Retired Police Officers of the District of Columbia.

She married Louis “Boogie” Wallace Jr. He died earlier.

Survivors include three sisters, Charlotte Dickson, Lawrence, Carole Sue Galloway, Arlington, Tex., and Jo Elaine Willis-Thomas, Kansas City, Mo.; and two brothers, Wilford “Buddy” Brown Jr., Lawrence, and Leroy Brown, Bowie, Md.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, where the family will greet friends.

The family suggests memorials to Hero’s Inc. Police Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
