Kent returns to lineup; Minor goes on DL

San Francisco San Francisco Giants second baseman Jeff Kent returned to the lineup Saturday after a season-opening stint on the disabled list with a broken bone in his left wrist. Kent missed the Giants’ first four games of the season and all but two spring games.

Kent, a former NL MVP, told reporters he injured his wrist while washing his truck. But later reports said he might have had an accident while riding his motorcycle.

The Giants placed backup first baseman Damon Minor on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his left knee.

Cardinals place Williams on 15-day disabled list

Houston St. Louis placed right-hander Woody Williams on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a strained muscle in his left side.

Williams left the game with Houston after the second inning Friday complaining of tightness in the muscle.

The Cardinals recalled right-hander Mike Crudale from Triple-A Memphis.
