Arkansas City: Restaurant owner dies from shooting injuries

A second man has died after being shot outside a club last weekend.

Hugo Torres, 33, of Arkansas City, died Thursday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He had been in critical condition since the shooting Sunday night. Torres, owner of the El Torero Mexican Restaurant, was shot once in the face with a small-caliber handgun.

The other victim, Candido Eduardo Monroy Portillo, 25, died shortly after the incident.

Thursday, Police Chief Oren Skiles said police were seeking two suspects, but no arrests have been made.

The shooting apparently stemmed from an altercation that originated inside the club and then moved outside, where the shooting took place.
