Hornets’ request for move delayed

New Orleans The NBA will not vote on the Hornets’ request to move from Charlotte to New Orleans on April 9.

The league has a board of governors meeting then and it had been thought the vote would be held then.

“They actually have 120 days from the day the application went in and that was Jan. 17,” NBA spokesman Tim Frank said Tuesday. “So they don’t really have to make a recommendation until May 17.”

Under league rules, the relocation committee must deliver a recommendation at least seven days before the owners vote on it, although the vote could come as late as a month after the recommendation, Frank said.
