Eudora selects football coach

Gregg Webb, coach of Class 2-1A power Claflin High, has been selected head football coach at Eudora.

Claflin has reached the 2-1A state finals the past five years. The Wildcats won state titles in 1997, ’98 and ’99. They finished second the past two years.

Claflin had a 51-game winning streak snapped with a 33-12 loss to Pittsburg Colgan in the 2000 state final. That streak ranks No. 1 in state history since playoffs began in 1969. Claflin’s 42 playoff victories rank No. 1 in state history.

Webb will replace Aaron Barnett, who guided EHS to four winning seasons and back-to-back Class 4A berths before accepting the head football job at Topeka Washburn Rural.

Webb’s selection has to be approved by the Eudora school board, which next meets on April 11.
