The Haskell Indian Art Market is one of the annual events held during the 2nd weekend in September each year. Originally it was a part of the Lawrence Indian Art Show, however, the Haskell Market is now a seperate entity. The Market provides an economic opportunity for Native American artists, as well as encouraging cross-cultural understanding and exchange. It also provides an opportunity for Haskell Indian Nations University specifically, to "showcase" its staff, students and resources to the community, and as much as is possible. Haskell’s resources are used to provide the services, food and entertainment for the Market. All workers are on a Volunteer basis and continue to devote many hours to its successful operation each year.
