The Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Three days out from my due date, I decided to take the day off and waddle down to the Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day parade. I’ve been trying to go to this parade for FIVE YEARS. Today, I finally got to see the magic (and the music) go down.

I can’t get enough parade music. Tubas, trumpets, drums, bagpipes, rolling pianos, I want it all. You can’t have enough bands playing in parades.

My favorite musical part of today’s parade was Americana Music Academy. Most musical acts in parades (with the exception of marching bands) get to sit on a float or in the back of a truck. The Americana musicians walked the route, while playing at the same time. Fiddles, mind you. That’s tricky.

Here’s a clip:

Pretty nifty, no?

I must say, I was impressed. Had a great time at the parade this year, and I heard they had a record number of floats and entries.

Can’t wait for the next parade, Art Tougeau.
