Event details

Join the Lawrence Bicycle Club and hundreds of other cyclists for the traditional wind-up event of the year. Entrance is limited to the first 1,000 riders. The Octoginta ride itself is on Sunday, but events cover both Saturday and Sunday.

Touted as one of the best rides in the Midwest, the 2010 Octoginta will again include a full breakfast with all of the trimmings, courtesy of Sunflower Bike Shop.

Here's the complete schedule:

Saturday: 7-8:15 a.m. - Time Trial

Location: Parking and registration at the KDOT materials lot located at the intersection of E 1750 and N 1400 Roads 2 miles east of Lawrence.

Entry Fee: $20 except age 10-18 FREE! Pre-registration: http://freestateracing.com. All participants must have USAC annual license or purchase one-day license for $10.

8 a.m. - 7 p.m. - Pre-registration

Location: South Park Recreation Center

9:30 a.m. - Tour de County

30-mile round-trip ride through Douglas County. The ride departs from the South Park Recreation Center. There will be a police escort to the city limits. Helmets required.

Cost: $5.

9:30 a.m. - Gravel Road Ride

This year we will be also offering a gravel road ride. More details will be posted soon.


7 a.m. Ride-day Registration & Check-in

South Park Recreation Center, 11th and Massachusetts Street.

8:30 a.m. - Ride Start

The police-escorted mass start begins at 8:30 a.m. at South Park. There will be both an 80-mile ride as well as a shorter, 40-mile course. The route will be patrolled by Douglas County sheriffs' deputies.
