On Senate considers raising driving age in Kansas to 17 (The Morning Rush)

In my opinion, elderly drivers are much more dangerous than teen drivers. If the legislature is serious about road safety, they'd require driving tests every 2-3 years after the age of 70. And if they were REALLY serious about road safety, they'd ban the use of hand-held cell phones while driving. I've been in more near-wrecks because of people talking on the phone while driving than I have with teens and the elderly combined!

People should learn to drive early, just limit what they can do. Drivers ed should start at 12 and be mandatory for two years. Then at 14 you get a permit for limited driving with a licensed adult, at 16 you can drive by yourself but not have underage passengers, and at 18 there are no restrictions. Then, when you are left to really make your own decisions, you've been doing it for 6 years and it isn't some game anymore.
