how about those graves found a block east of mass that i haven't heard anything about lately? the masonic building on mass is pretty iconic and mysterious.

What graves? The same graves people claim were at 9th & New Hampshire next to the Arts Center but neither historians or radar could find proof of their existence?

There isn't any single "most" historic area. There has to be some sort of context. If you're talking about Victorian residential architecture it would be Old West Lawrence. If it's pre-Civil War architecture or town-founding history it would be the area east of Mass.

For social history that would be East Lawrence, industrial history would be along the south bank of the Kaw and North Lawrence. Then there's the Breezedale neighborhood which was the first suburban neighborhood, and then there's .... the list goes on.
