You really need an iron skillet if you plan on cooking real food. May I assume she did not fry the pralines and crawdads together?

I know the pioneers are not an ethnic group but the foods they ate when they first came to Lawrence might be considered Kansas cooking. You might try replicating a meal as closely as possible from the time of Quantrill's Raid.

My fave is Alaskan sour dough bread, potato soup, lemon meringue pie, all made from scratch of course.
