I was horrible at math and struggled with it all the way through school starting in first grade. It was only taught one way and I was completely lost. I understood geometry because it was visual math. Numbers were like a foreign language to me.
I finally figured out my own way to do it when I was in college. Now I can do most of it in my head and come up with the correct answer but I can't explain the process because it's a bit convoluted and involves mental images. But it works for me.
I hated it because I was so good at it, I found it boring. I quizzed out of my math requirent at KU back in 1967.
