On Do you have a favorite memory of the Baker Wetlands boardwalk?

My favorite memory was when the wetlands were not there. A friend and I used to ice skate a creek that would freeze.

My daughter and I both enjoy going out there just to walk around. It is a great place. When she is feeling stressed it is soothing to just be quiet and disengage from yourself and look and listen to all that is around you. I particularly enjoy the marsh hawks as unlike most birds they build a nest on the ground.

Early 90s when the SLT v. wetlands issue first came up, the environmental campus group I was a part of at K-State came to Lawrence to hang out with the KU peeps and toured the wetlands. I'm thinking the boardwalk was pretty darn new, they had ends of the recycled board things hanging out in the parking area for folks to take and reuse.
