Precipitation totals for 2011 and 2012 were far below average. Together it amounts to almost three feet of precipitation we didn't get. Two snows barely puts a dent in the drought.

The LJW OTS asks: Does the snow make you optimistic that the drought is ending?

autie responds: No.

Ask again in the middle of May.

Why ask on Mass.? I have a better idea, hop in you car and take a short drive out to see one or two local farmers, and get a real answer, besides that the country side is so pretty with all the snow on hills and trees.

“I’d say so. It’s not been hot lately and snow is frozen water.”

I don't even know where to begin.

It takes approximately 10 inches of snow to equal one inch of rain. It is going to take more than two or three inches (rainfall equivalent) to make up the deficit.
