KU-CU pregame
February 3, 2010
This chat has already taken place. Read the transcript below.
Jesse Newell:
84-70 KU.
And I'll go with Fruity Pebbles. But just barely.
Jesse Newell:
Man, no love for Bill Raftery. I'm a little surprised.
http://www2.kusports.com/polls/2010/feb/which-espn-color-announcer-do-you-better/
When he's up against Coach Knight, can you blame us jesse?
My prediction is KU-86 CU-68
How's the crowd looking Jesse? Many KU fans?
Cheerios.
Jesse Newell:
Bob Knight seems to be a dividing figure on TV. Either you love his analysis or you hate it.
Jesse Newell:
number1 — Tons of KU fans. It's funny, but when you're here, you know right when the gates open, as the KU fans flood down the aisles to get the good seats.
There were so many KU fans here that ESPN cameras have already made their way up to the KU section to get some crowd shots. I count 15 rows of KU fans behind me that span 5 sections. It also looks like there are a large number of KU fans in the GA section at midcourt towards the top.
Gotta love Raftery... Onions! How is the crowd shaping up? Who will have the larger contingent of fans, KU or Colorado?
Moderator:
whitey — I still have to think CU will have more fans, but it's going to be a lot closer to 50-50 than I was expecting. I figured a weekday might keep folks away, but that doesn't look to be the case.
I'm hoping to hear the chant at the end of the game! Rock Chalk Jayhawk-KU!
Jesse-I read on the boards that CJ isn't dressed again, this true? Anyone else we should know about?
Jesse Newell:
illinois — Correct. C.J. was not going through warm-ups earlier, so I wouldn't guess that he'll play.
Jesse Newell:
Everyone else seemed to be OK.
Jesse Newell:
Must be a Black-Out, as about 90 percent of the CU students are wearing black. Will the Black Outs and White Outs ever go out of style?
Jesse Newell:
Raftery making a comeback on the poll.
Jesse Newell:
I've seen this sign two years in a row in Boulder, but I still think it's brilliant in it's simplicity: "You live in Kansas".
I mean, what can you really say to that?
at least I don't live in Missouri
Jesse-
Perhaps in response to the "You live in Kansas" sign one could reply:
"At least its not Missouri"
Jesse Newell:
I think the "You Live in (fill-in-the-blank)" sign probably would be effective for about eight of CU's opponents.
KU: 89
CU: 65
Fruity Pebbles...no contest.
Jesse Newell:
The taste of Fruity Pebbles seems to stay in my mouth long after I eat it.
Visit the Mountain Sun brewery, on the Pearl St. mall, for a cold brew after the game.
Go Jayhawks !
Jessie, that "something" that Coors Events Center is missing is a basketball team.
Jesse Newell:
That's been the case recently. Though 10-1 at home is pretty impressive.
It doesn't appear that there has been a commitment financially to the facilities here. I guess nothing will change if no one wants it to.
Jesse Newell:
I count 28 CU cheerleaders, and that's not including the dance team. That seems like a lot.
Are they all girls? Is cheerleading a "sport"? Help with Title 9?
Jesse Newell:
A handful of guys.
Jesse Newell:
KU comes out to loud applause. There are more CU fans here, but the noise from both sides is about equal.
Jesse Newell:
All right, we're going to close this up. Be sure to check out the live blog for photos, analysis, polls and more.
Thanks everyone for chatting.
