Officials to discuss future of water in Kansas

Reservoir summit plannedFederal, state and local officials will meet Wednesday at the Dole Institute of Politics for an examination of the 24 federal reservoirs in Kansas.Kansas reservoirs provide water for two-thirds of the state’s population in addition to providing water for industrial, recreational and agricultural use.The meeting will start at 8:40 a.m. with welcoming remarks from Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.Remembering Kansas historyThe Kansas Historical Society is launching “Kansas Memory” a new online offering that will feature thousands of items, including photorgraphs, letters and diaries, from the society’s collections.Former Kansas Gov. John Carlin, who served as United States archivist from 1995-2005, will help launch the website at an event at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Historical Society. The new website is at kansasmemory.org.
