Senator defends his ‘Big Brother’ daughter

Friday, 6 July 2007

• State Sen. Phil Journey apparently is trying to “help set the record straight” about his daughter, who is a contestant on the “Big Brother 8” TV show.

It appears that Journey, a Republican from Haysville, sent a letter to the site Realitytvcalendar.com complaining a blogger had called his daughter Carol Journey, a KU student and former Kansas City Chiefs cheerleader, an airhead.

In his letter, Journey notes that she has had a GPA of between 3.2 and 3.5 and was in the top 3 percent of her high school class.

On another site, Journey says he thinks there’s a decent chance his daughter will walk out of the house when she finds a rival from high school also was selected for the show.

"Lawrence in the News" appears semi-regularly, Monday through Friday. If you've seen a news story about Lawrence or KU that we've missed, do let us know.

Wow, did you really think someone could be on reality TV and nobody would say anything bad about them online??

I grazed the channels and saw an airheaded, immuture female complaining about another resident who took her for $5 when they were in jr high and was still ranting as ptss resulted from the jr high heist. If that was his daughter, go figure. It was enough to flip channels and vow not to return to the pettiness of that particualr show.

No, that was not his daughter, although she is an airhead. His daughter is the one who allegedly took the $5.

I had the worst hangover in history last night, thank you to whomever brought the Sangria :( , so I watched this show but only because my head hurt too much to get up and look for the remote. She seemed like she behaved fine to me. She didn't come off slutty, stupid or rude. She didn't seemed too pleased when the enemy she allegedly stole $5 from when they were 14 (omg, get over it already) came into the room, but she didn't seem as if she was going to stomp off in anger either. I bet she sticks it out and hope she handles it well. I have a feeling though, that this has more story to it than just $5 when they were in jr. high. It always does.
