Band wants help after Lawrence incident

¢ A Dallas band is issuing a call for help among its fans after one of its members broke two teeth while in Lawrence for a show. The Radiant’s Jesse Hopkins didn’t have dental insurance._A few weeks ago, after a show in Lawrence KS, we (Radiant*) were in the hotel parking lot when Levi and I decided it was a good idea for me to give him a piggy back ride to the room. I started running and made it about 10 feet before we had a crash landing that resulted in some injury to my face, namely two broken teeth. I wasn’t in much pain and so i continued with the weekend, fat lip and all. The next day, I called my dad to discover that I don’t have dental insurance. I knew that it was gonna cost me to get this fixed, but I had no idea that it would cost $4,275. Those that know me, know that I am far from rich and will have a difficult time paying this debt._¢ The first dean of the KU School of Medicine has died, the Wichita Business Journal reports. Dr. Cramer Reed was 91. _ He was a practicing urologist, a board member of the Sedgwick County Medical Society, president of the medical staff of Wesley Medical Center and president of the Kansas Division of the American Cancer Society.__Dr. Reed also served as a member of the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts, the National Institutes of Health National Advisory Allied Health Professions Council and the Kansas Governor’s Council on Fitness._¢ A KU graduate has been promoted to senior vice president for sales of Farmers Insurance, according to a press release. Jim Westerman has a degree in business administration from KU.¢ KU professor Michael Yellow-Bird is coming to the defense of Eric Cheyfitz, a University of Colorado professor who has been charged with research misconduct, according to the Denver Post._Associate professor and past director of the Center for Indigenous Nations Studies at the University of Kansas Michael Yellow-Bird said that Churchill is one of the most cited scholars in Indian studies and the attempt to silence him is “colonialism at work.”_
