Yet another pretty quiet overnight throughout Lawrence.

The night started off during the storm knocking out power to residents and businesses along US Highway 56 between the city of Edgerton in Johnson County to Baldwin City in Douglas County. The highway was also closed for several hours while crews worked to remove the downed power lines and replaced a few power poles that were damaged. As of this morning, some are still without power in the area and part of US Highway 56 remains closed.

Just before 10:30 p.m. Lawrence Police responded to the 2500 block of Crossgate Drive for power lines down on the roadway. Police directed traffic around the downed lines while crews finished restoring power. LPD also directed traffic in the 1800 block of Naismith Drive due to a traffic signal losing power. That was also quickly restored and back to normal operation.

It was back to normal as far as disturbance calls that police were called to respond on. I counted 5 disturbance calls. Of all these disturbance calls there were no serious injuries reported.

The rest of the night was the usual noise complaints, suspicious vehicle and pedestrian checks.

Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers performed several vehicle stops in Lawrence, two of which were suspected intoxicated drivers.

Lawrence Police performed three or four bar checks. Several report numbers were issued for alcohol violations during these bar checks.
