Kansas volleyball falls to No. 11 Baylor in 4 sets

The Kansas women’s volleyball team dropped the opening match of the series to Baylor in Waco, Texas, on Thursday night, falling 25-19, 28-26, 23-25 and 25-15.

The 11th-ranked Bears (10-4 overall, 4-1 Big 12), out-hit Kansas (11-7, 3-4) .354 to .205, taking control of the match with a second-set victory that needed overtime. The second set featured 18 ties and six lead changes. The Bears also out-blocked the Jayhawks 13-7 for the match.

Senior outside hitter Jenny Mosser and sophomore middle blocker Caroline Crawford led Kansas with 11 kills apiece. Freshman phenom Caroline Bien added eight kills in the loss.

The Jayhawks have now lost three consecutive matches to ranked conference foes. That has followed a nine-match winning streak from Sept. 9 through Oct. 1.

Kansas will look to snap its losing skid at 5 p.m. Friday in the series finale from Waco.
