Jayme Savage named Free State’s new volleyball coach

A familiar face will be Free State’s new volleyball coach for the 2019 season.

Jayme Savage has been named the program’s new head volleyball coach, which was announced Monday night via Twitter by Free State Athletic Director Amanda Faunce. Savage, who actually played for the Firebirds in high school, has been an assistant in the program for nine years.

“I’m extremely excited for the title of head coach, but more importantly the chance to lead this program,” Savage said.

Savage is the daughter of Bob Lisher, who retired as Free State’s football coach at the end of the 2018 season after directing the program since it was formed back in 1997.

Last season, Free State’s volleyball team went 23-15 before eventually being eliminated by Manhattan High

“I am a firm believer in positive team culture, hard work and accountability,” Savage said. “I would also strive to see an increase in the number of female athlete participants in the weight room.”
