Veritas edges Baldwin behind 21-point outburst in third quarter

Veritas used a 21-point third quarter to surge past Baldwin, 68-65, Monday night at BHS.

The Bulldogs took a 19-16 advantage in the opening period, leading by a 31-30 margin at the half. The Eagles then had to hold off Baldwin in the final period to claim a narrow victory between two area schools.

Senior Trey Huslig led the way for Veritas with a game-high 23 points on 7-of-18 shooting. Tucker Flory added 20 points, going 8-for-13 from the floor. In a losing effort, Monroe Morgan led the Bulldogs with 19 points. Matthew Garber and Nathan Cessna added 17 and 10 points, respectively.

Baldwin plays host to Ottawa Tuesday, while Veritas travels to Bishop Seabury Friday.
