National Weather Service issues tornado watch for Douglas County

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch Monday afternoon for Douglas County and the surrounding areas.

The watch was issued around 3:45 p.m. and is scheduled to last until 11 p.m. Severe storms are likely to produce hail up to 3 inches in diameter and winds up to 80 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka.

Rain is expected to begin just after 5 p.m. with more than one inch of rain forecast throughout the evening.
