The University of Kansas selected a new academic leader for its School of Medicine system.

KU on Monday named Dr. Akinlolu O. Ojo as executive dean of the School of Medicine, which has campuses in Kansas City, Kan., Salina and Wichita.

Ojo will take over the position on Aug. 26, replacing current Executive Dean Robert D. Simari, who was promoted to executive vice chancellor of the school in 2017. Simari served in both positions while the medical center conducted a national search to replace him.

Ojo is currently associate vice president for clinical research and global health initiatives and professor of medicine and health promotion sciences for the University of Arizona.
