Tornado warning for Lawrence, much of Douglas and Jefferson counties expires

A tornado warning for Lawrence, north-central Douglas County and southeastern Jefferson County was allowed to expire at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service issued the warning after a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Williamstown in Jefferson County. In addition to the tornado warning, there was a severe thunderstorm warning in effect in Douglas County that expired at the same time.

A tornado watch that was also in effect for Douglas County was canceled at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday.
