Douglas County reports 54 new COVID-19 cases since Thursday; 263 remain active

Douglas County reported 8,733 cases of COVID-19 as of Monday, an increase of 54 cases since information was last reported on Thursday.
In Douglas County, 8,470 out of the 8,733 cases are inactive or beyond the infectious period, according to Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health, meaning 263 cases are active.
The county has averaged about 10 new cases per day over the last 14 days, according to a 14-day moving average graph updated weekdays by the health department. The current average of 9.86 new cases is the lowest average the county has seen since mid-August.
Douglas County has a 14-day COVID-19 incidence rate of 114.72 per 100,000 people and a test positivity rate of 2.4%. Test positivity rates are 4.1% in Eudora, 3.7% in Baldwin City, 2.2% in Lawrence and 0% in Lecompton. Five patients at Lawrence’s hospital had COVID-19 on Monday, one fewer than Thursday. To date, 79 Douglas County residents have died from COVID-19.
