Forecast for Monday, Jan. 25, 2021.

As central and northern Kansas prepare for inches of snow Monday, the Lawrence area will see mainly rain and potentially some ice.

The National Weather Service in Topeka has not issued any advisories for Douglas County as part of a winter storm that is expected to drop 8 to 12 inches of snow in some parts of the state.

Douglas County and the Topeka-to-Kansas City corridor along Interstate 70 fall just south and east of the areas expected to see measurable snowfall, according to graphics produced by the weather service.

Rain will remain in the local forecast all day Monday as temperatures hold in the mid-30s. Light freezing drizzle will be likely in the evening hours as temperatures dip into the 20s.

Tuesday is expected to be mostly cloudy, with highs in the lower 30s, and the area may see a slight chance of snow Tuesday night before clearing off for the rest of the week.
