Tornado warning issued for southwestern Douglas County

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a tornado warning for southwestern Douglas County until 8:30 p.m. Friday.

The weather service said it detected a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near Overbrook at around 8 p.m. Residents in the area are advised to take shelter in an interior room on the lowest

floor of a sturdy building and avoid windows.
