Woman remains in hospital after K-10 accident late Friday

A woman remains in Lawrence Memorial Hospital as a result of a three-vehicle accident late Friday on Kansas Highway 10.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred at 10:13 p.m. on K-10 just east of O’Connell Road. The highway patrol reports a 2003 Jeep Cherokee driven by Gregory McTaggart, 46, of Kansas City, Kan., struck an eastbound 1995 Nissan Sentra driven by Jefferson Garrison, 55, of Ottawa. McTaggart’s vehicle then crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2008 Toyota Corolla driven by Puyin Bai, 26, of Lawrence.

The highway patrol reports McTaggart and three passengers in Bai’s vehicle, Joanna Bai, 25, of Lawrence, Jinfan Bai, 21, of China, and Congmeng Jia, 52, of China, were taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. A spokesperson for the hospital said Jia was admitted to the hospital and was in good condition Saturday evening, and Jinfan Bai and McTaggart were treated and released. The hospital has no record of Joanna Bai.
