KU tennis downs West Virginia

? Kansas remained undefeated all-time against West Virginia as the Jayhawks defeated the Mountaineers, 4-1, in Morgantown on Friday afternoon. KU is now, 4-0, in the all-time series against the Mountaineers, 13-5, overall on the season, and 3-2 in Big 12 play in 2016.

The Jayhawks started the day in a hole, as Maria Jose Cardona and Summer Collins forfeited their match due to illness. Kansas, however, won the other two matches to take the doubles point.

In singles play, the Jayhawks continued their momentum with three consecutive wins on courts four, one and two. Nina Khmelnitckaia brought the Jayhawks to 2-0 overall by quickly defeating Yuen Choo on court four, 6-0, 6-2. On court one, Anastasiya Rychagova secured the win over Habiba Shaker, 6-3, 7-5. Wrapping up the win for KU was Smith Hinton on court two, who clinched the match with a, 7-6 (11), 6-3, victory against WVU’s Carolina Lewis.
