Name: Steven Duval

Age: 44

Clothing details: JackThreads shoes, 0; Levi’s jeans, 0; Gap cardigan, 0; Chuck Close Self-portrait T-shirt from the Walker Art Center, price unknown; Stefeno hat, 0.

Hometown: Madison, Wis.

Time in Lawrence: A year and a half

Relationship status: Married

Occupation: Art researcher at the Spencer Museum of Art. I like conceptual art but mostly events and performances that work with people.

Dream job: I like my job. It works for me!

What were you doing when scouted? I just taught a class and now heading back to the museum.

Describe your style: It’s eclectic. It’s a bit both (casual and vintage). I try not to be to overly conscious about it.

Fashion trends you love: I supposed it’s the nostalgia in me, but I don’t mind the return to the ’80s. But I like when people have their own style. I like when people are really into a ’40s look like pumps and a dress — that’s really wonderful.

Fashion trends you hate: I’m not a big fan of Ugg boots or stone-washed jeans.

Fashion influences: It’s mostly from the people that I see when I’m walking around. In high school, it was my favorite bands, but now it is people that are out and about doing things.

What would you like to see more or less of in Lawrence? More people feeling comfortable expressing themselves. Less people drunk at night. Not that I don’t want people to have fun!

Whom do people say you look like? Unfortunately, no one but ever since I lost my hair I modeled myself after Isaac Hayes.

What type of music do you like? Electronic, jazz and sort of arty classical that’s minimal.

Tell us a secret: I used to have hair like Robert Smith from the Cure.
