With the threat of a winter storm looming, Oklahoma officials moved up tipoff for its women’s basketball Senior Night meeting with the Jayhawks by an hour Saturday.

And the Jayhawks responded with a quick start they carried over to a 65-58 victory over the Sooners at Lloyd Noble Center.

“I told them the last time we won (at OU, in 2013), it was Senior Night, and we hit our free throws,” KU coach Bonnie Henrickson said.

The Jayhawks (14-16 overall, last place at 5-12 in the Big 12) followed the same script Saturday in snapping a six-game losing streak.

They connected on 17 of 18 free throws in knocking off the second-place Sooners (18-10, 12-5).

“I’m just proud of the kids,” Henrickson said.

Kansas led by as many as 12. OU’s largest lead was two — just 35 seconds in.

Crucially, the usually turnover-plagued Jayhawks had just 15 turnovers Saturday and actually outscored OU, 12-11, in points off turnovers.

Senior forward Chelsea Gardner led the charge for the Jayhawks with 20 points and eight rebounds.

Senior guard Natalie Knight and freshman guard Lauren Aldridge added 10 points apiece to join Gardner in the double-digit club.

Fourth-year junior forward Kaylon Williams and senior guard Sharane Campbell-Olds finished in double figures for the Sooners, scoring 20 and 11 points, respectively. Campbell-Olds also finished with 10 rebounds for a double-double performance.

Kansas will holds its Senior Night on Monday against Iowa State. Tipoff is 7 p.m. at Allen Fieldhouse.
