Game 2 of KU-UT baseball series pushed back

2:26 p.m. Update:

KU officials have announced that today’s KU-UT baseball game will now start at 6 p.m., which was the originally scheduled start time.

The game had been moved up to 1 p.m. because of rain in the forecast, but after re-evaluating it early this afternoon, the coaches and game officials decided to move it back to the evening start.

Rain remains in the forecast and further changes are certainly possible.

Original Post:

First pitch for Game 2 of Kansas University’s three-game, home baseball series against Texas at Hoglund Ballpark has been pushed back because of rainy weather and now will not be thrown out until at least 4 p.m. today.

Originally slated to start at 6 p.m., the game time was moved to 1 p.m. on Friday because of the threat of bad weather. However, when the two teams — who played a 14-inning marathon won by Texas on Friday night — discussed things Saturday morning, the forecast inspired them to try to squeeze the game in during the mid-afternoon window instead.

An official announcement for the start time is supposed to come shortly after the coaches and game officials meet again at 1 p.m.
