LHS baseball earns first win

? Lawrence High’s baseball team picked up its first victory of the season with a 7-4 win over Shawnee Mission West on Thursday.

The Lions found themselves in a 4-0 hole after the first inning, but rallied for three runs in the fifth and plated four more in the sixth to overtake the Vikings.

“We executed some small ball and really put some pressure on them,” LHS coach Brad Stoll said.

Daonte Lowery was one of three Lions with a multi-hit game, as he went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

While the Lions’ late offensive surge pleased Stoll, his team’s effort defensively did not after LHS committed six errors.

“It looked like a snowball fight,” Stoll said.

LHS (1-3) will go for another road win on Saturday against Blue Valley North.
