Community partners to host town hall on insurance marketplace at LMH

Heartland Community Health Center will host a town hall forum on the new health insurance marketplace this Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital auditorium. The keynote speaker will be Sheldon Weisgrau, director of the Health Reform Resource Project in Kansas and an expert on the practical implications of the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare).

“Many community members have questions about how the Affordable Care Act affects them personally. We are holding this town hall to answer those questions,” said Jon Stewart, CEO of Heartland Community Health Center.

After Weisgrau’s presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with certified navigators and application counselors to ask questions or begin the process of applying for insurance in the marketplace. Heartland Community Health Center and Lawrence Memorial Hospital are joined in partnership by the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department and the Lawrence Public Library for this event.
