40 years ago: Lawrence man getting calls meant for new resident

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for June 24, 1973:

  • A small case of mistaken identity was causing some headaches for a Lawrence man. Martin E. Henry, a retired postal worker, was listed in the Lawrence phone directory. Martin H. Henry, a retired Navy officer who had recently joined the KU Endowment Association staff, was not yet in the book. However, Martin E. was often getting calls intended for Martin H. Things would eventually get straightened out, but “meanwhile, Martin E. would appreciate not getting calls” intended for the other fellow, according to a notice published today.
  • The Douglas County Commissioners were to wait a few more days on a requested jail facility recommendation from a committee appointed more than a year earlier. Forrest Swall, chair of the Douglas County Committee on Correctional services and Jail Facilities, had presented a draft of the recommendations to committee members, who had discussed about half of the 33-page report. The review was to be completed next week.
