KU soccer camps: The Kansas University Soccer girls residential and girls team camp has two sessions. Session I is from July 15-18, all day (grades 4-12). Lawrence swim team and lessons: Ad Astra Area Aquatics is a competitive year-round swim team that offers practices for ages 6-18 throughout the week. AAAA is always accepting new members. For information, visit adastraareaaquatics.org or call Patrick at 331-6940.

Swim academy: Registration is open for the Aquahawk Swim Academy swim-lesson program. The Aquahawk Swim Academy is designed to introduce new and beginner swimmers to the water, teach basic water safety and swimming skills to swim for fun or competitively. LHS fall sports: The deadline for turning in required forms for participation in fall 2011 sports at Lawrence High is 3:30 p.m. Aug. 11 to the LHS athletic office. The first day of fall sports is Aug. 15. Forms may be picked up at Lawrence High or downloaded at www.lhs.usd497.org.

Wrestling camp: The Baldwin Bulldog summer wrestling camp is July 5-9, separate sessions for K-2, 3-5, junior high and high school. All sessions in the evening. Horsethief Run scheduled: The annual Horsethief 5K Run, a fundraiser for Eudora High’s cross country team, will be held at 7:30 a.m. on July 9. The USATF-certified course boasts a net downhill finish. Entry by June 23 was $25, or $30 for late or day-of-race entry. LAGA City tournament registration: The Lawrence Amateur Golf Association City Tournament is scheduled for July 23 at Eagle Bend and July 24 at Lawrence Country Club. Registration forms are available at the local golf course pro shops and at Golf USA. Cost is $125. Field is limited to first 100 players to register. Four divisions: men, women, seniors (50 and over) and super seniors (60 and over). Each tournament will have championship flights and flights for higher-handicap players.

KU baseball camp: The KU Baseball All-Star Camp for ages 13-18 will be held July 28-31 at KU’s Hoglund Ballpark. It includes daily instructional sessions, scrimmage games, team concept and much more. Fall leagues: The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is taking team registration for fall adult softball and kickball. The registration deadline is July 8. For more information on the leagues, call 832-7920 or log on to www.lprd.org.

Fish records LCC ace: Eric Fish hit a hole-in-one Saturday at Lawrence Country Club. He used a 5-iron for the ace on the 205-yard No. 7 hole. It was witnessed by Craig and Ryan Wetnight.

Van Horn hole in one: Keith Van Horn recorded a hole-in-one on the 167-yard No. 11 hole at Alvamar Country Club. He used a 4-hybrid for the shot, which was witnessed by Ryan Sanders.

Volleyball camp for kids: A girls volleyball camp for girls going into fourth and fifth grade will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. Aug. 1-4 in the Corpus Christi gym. Cadue in all-star game: Veritas Christian School middle linebacker Jerrid Cadue has been selected to play in the Jim Thorpe Classic All-Star game on July 9 in Dallas. Cadue is a 6-foot, 255-pounder.

Eagle Bend rolls back prices: Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Eagle Bend Golf Course and Learning Center, 1250 E. 902 Rd., will roll back rates to its original Opening Day prices to celebrate its 13th year in operation on Tuesday. Individuals may play nine holes $9.75; nine holes with cart for $17.25; 18 holes walking for $15; and 18 holes with cart for $25. Phenix coaches sought: Lawrence Phenix will be holding tryouts at the end of July and hope to add first-year 10U, 14U and 16U teams to the organization. The primary focus of coaches for these age groups would be player development. Prior coaching experience is a plus, but will consider new coaches who have a strong desire to teach. Coaches will have the full support of the Phenix organization/fund raising and all coaches within the organization. Aquahawks awards: The Lawrence Aquahawks Swim Club competed this past weekend in the CSP TideRiders 73rd Annual Summer Invitational Swim Meet in St. Louis. Thirty Aquahawk swimmers competed in this regional meet. Aquahawk Swimmers finishing in the finals and top five were: Jordan Portela, Kara Krannawitter, Luke Edwards, Matthew Wilkus, Zach Andregg, Ben Sloan, Chloe Portela, Courtney Caldwell and Phoebe Grabill. Individual event winners were Caldwell and Jordan Portela.

Next Level youth football combines: Next Level will host several youth football combines this summer. All combines are for youth going into grades 2-8. The combine schedules: linemen combine, 6-8 p.m. July 8, noon-3 July 9-10; quarterback combine 6-8 p.m. July 8; 4-7 p.m. July 9-10; and skills combine 6-8 p.m. Aug. 2, 6-8 p.m. Aug. 9-11.
