Greg Gurley to work with Williams Fund

Former Kansas University basketball guard Greg Gurley has been named director of development for KU’s Williams Fund.

Gurley will help implement strategic fundraising initiatives with Kansas Athletics’ annual-fund and major-gift donors, with an emphasis on K-Club letterwinners and donors in the Kansas City metro area.

A native of Leawood and graduate of Shawnee Mission South, Gurley played at KU from 1992-95. His KU teams won three Big Eight Conference regular-season titles, the 1992 league tournament title and advanced to the 1993 Final Four. Gurley led KU in three-point field-goal percentage in 1994, making 41 of 91 treys for 45.1 percent.

Gurley has worked the past several seasons as analyst for Lawrence Cable Channel Six. Gurley has also spent more than 10 years as a college basketball studio analyst for Metro Sports in Kansas City, Mo.

“Greg is a Kansas native and is well-connected in the Kansas City area,” said Terry Mohajir, KU associate athletic director for development and marketing. “His love for this university, his intimate knowledge of Kansas athletics and his many relationships with former KU student-athletes make him a good fit for this job.”
