Kansas University freshman combo guard Josh Selby, who has missed the last three games because of a stress reaction in his right foot, has been upgraded to “questionable” for tonight’s game at Kansas State, coach Bill Self said Sunday.

“He did practice (Sunday) and moved pretty well,” Self said of Selby.

Self had all but ruled Selby out for today’s game following Saturday’s victory over Iowa State.

Nothing personal

KSU senior point guard Jacob Pullen says the KSU-KU series “is not personal. It’s nothing like, ‘Start a fight because we don’t like each other rivalry.’

“It’s a well-respected rivalry. For me, spending a lot of the time this summer with Marcus (Morris) at the LeBron (James) camp and then Team USA Select (in Las Vegas), I was with him most of the summer, and you get an understanding for people. You become friends with people. At the same time, we both understand we’ve got to go out and do our job to help our teams win.” Morris considers Pullen “a good friend.”

So far so perfect

KU junior Tyshawn Taylor is 6-0 versus KSU.

“I know K-State will come out fighting,” Taylor said. “It’s going to be a dogfight. They always have got a good crowd when they play against us. We are expecting it to be a good game. They have been going through their ups and downs or whatever they are going through, but Frank (Martin, coach) is going to make sure they play hard. I mean, they’ve got guys that can score. I think it’s going to be a tough battle.”

Good record

KU is undefeated on the road this year.

“(We have) good players. That’s the biggest thing,” Self said. “One thing about it, these guys except for Josh have played a lot of minutes in a lot of big games.

“Locker rooms are a lot of fun when you win at home. They are much more fun when you win on the road as far as feeling you accomplished something. They (Jayhawks) enjoy going to other people’s buildings and getting other people’s best shot. That’s more a true evaluation in their minds sometimes of who we are and where we’re at. We know we’ll get tested big time (today).”

Robinson out

KSU’s Martin on Thomas Robinson missing his second straight game following surgery to repair a meniscus tear:

“It’s unfortunate that he’s not going to play, because of what he went through the last month (death of mom, grandmother, grandfather). I’m sure playing basketball alleviates that young man’s mind.”

Collins to return

Look for some former Jayhawks to be in town for Saturday’s game against Colorado. That home game is held on NBA All-Star weekend.
