Kansas softball loses pair
Houston, Texas ? Kansas University’s softball team started the 2010 season and the the tenure of new coach Megan Smith with a pair of losses Friday in the Marriott Hobby Invite.
Kansas in Game One could not quiet a sizzling Louisville offense as the Jayhawks fell, 10-2, to the No. 21-ranked Cardinals.
Louisville collected five runs off five hits in the first inning.
KU didn’t respond until the third inning, when Liz Kocon hit a sacrifice fly to score Alex Jones.
Amanda Jobe plated Jones with a single that bounced off the first baseman’s glove in the fifth inning for the Jayhawks’ other run.
In the second game, Kansas fell, 8-0, to Sam Houston State.
The Jayhawks stranded runners in every inning but one.
Kansas will face Sam Houston State again at 3 p.m. today and Houston at 7 tonight.
