Tour Kansas homes for the holidays

Before the holiday season whizzes by, jump in the car and travel Interstate 70 to take in several home tours featuring festive decorations.

The fifth-annual Holiday Homes Tour in Lawrence will run from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 6, showcasing decorating ideas from a variety of traditions. See www.healthcareaccess.org for more information.

If you watch television’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” you’ll want to tour the Chapman home built for the show. It’s one of five decorated homes open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday for the Chapman Holiday Homes Tour. Visit www.cityofchapman.org to learn more.

There’s a twilight tour from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 5 of six decorated homes in Abilene. A daytime tour follows from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 6. Featured styles will be Mid-Century Modern built after World War II, a modified Victorian built in the last decade of the 19th century, a colonial revival, a New England Cape Cod, a 1990s ranch and another 1990s home that is a blend of several different architectural styles.
