Around and about

Lindsey and Corey Ingram, Lenexa, announce the birth of their son, Aiden Allen Ingram, on Nov. 6, 2009, in Overland Park.

His maternal grandparents are Bob and Debbie Rhoton, and his paternal grandparents are Bill and Denise Ingram, all of Lawrence.

Two properties have been awarded Applause plaques by the Old West Lawrence Neighborhood Association in the third and final round for 2009. They are:

• Deanna and Joe Whelan, 800 Ohio. The Whelans purchased this property early in 2009 and have rejuvenated the interior as well as the exterior of the building with a new roof, new paint and new front porch railings. They cleaned up the backyard and planted new front flower beds.

• Laurie and John Frydman, 649 Miss. The Frydmans’ home is an unusual prairie style with Asian detailing. The yard is always meticulously maintained. In the summertime, there’s a collection of cacti on their front porch and steps. The Frydmans recently planted new trees and have added a hot tub screened by a trellis and hanging plants, on the Seventh Street side of their property.
