KU releases GPAs for spring semester

Eleven Kansas University athletics teams posted grade-point averages of 3.0 or better, leading KU student-athletes to an overall GPA of 2.95 during the 2009 spring semester, KU athletic department officials announced Thursday.

In all, 247 athletes, or 51 percent of all KU athletes, earned spots on the athletic director’s Honor Roll by achieving a 3.0 or better. Thirty eight of those achieved a perfect 4.0.

Volleyball led the way this spring with a 3.32 team GPA, followed by swimming and diving at 3.28 and women’s golf at 3.22. Men’s and women’s basketball, men’s golf, rowing, soccer, softball, tennis and the spirit squad also achieved GPA’s of 3.0 or better.

Baseball (2.62), men’s basketball (3.00), women’s basketball (3.01), football (2.53), men’s golf (3.13), women’s golf (3.22), rowing (3.18), soccer (3.06), softball (3.17), swimming/diving (3.28), tennis (3.04), men’s track (2.93), women’s track (2.98), volleyball (3.32), spirit squad (3.01), total GPA (2.95).
