KU softball wins, loses

? Kansas University’s softball team opened Saturday with its second straight victory over a ranked opponent, but ended it with a lopsided loss to a third.

KU beat No. 9 Northwestern, 8-7, in the first game, but fell, 10-0, to No. 11 Stanford in the Kajikawa Classic.

Against Northwestern, Kansas (2-2) scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth — off a sacrifice fly from Sara Ramirez.

Against Stanford, pitcher Missy Penna held Kansas hitless, but two Cardinal errors put runners on base to prevent a perfect game.
