Wichita teachers reject tentative contract

? Wichita teachers have rejected a tentative contract agreement that would have frozen their pay.

Of the 2,684 votes returned to the United Teachers of Wichita office Friday, 56 percent opposed accepting the contract that would have frozen salaries and possibly added a health insurance premium.

Teachers will continue working under the current contract. The union’s next step is to ask the district to return to the bargaining table.
